Voice FM

Voice FM is a valuable asset to the city of Southampton, supporting its cultural life and local initiatives, celebrating its diversity, strengthening its cohesion and engagement, and helping build pride in the city and its vibrant culture. A key purpose of the station is to provide development and training opportunities, as well as experience, to young people wanting to pursue careers in the media. The station runs a weekly South Coast Music chart in conjunction with a local music project to support and promote the local music scene and it highlights local acts in its weekly playlist. In 2023 the chart songs generated 35,000 votes Voice FM was recently a media partner for Southampton’s City of Culture bid, promoting opportunities to get involved and highlighting aspects of city culture in its shows. It is currently working with the City Council on a series of ‘Love where you Live’ local events, and is creating on-air content with local community projects and organisations. Prior to the Pandemic, the station delivered outside broadcasts and partnered organisations running local events and festivals. The station runs a daily ‘exercise at home’ programme in conjunction with the Saints Foundation. It has also recently worked with Communities against Cancer on a one-year programme to raise awareness of cancer using interviews, blogs , social media and on-air info-ads. Each year its volunteers run Give a Gift which provides Christmas presents to children in hospital with live events and on-air promotion.
